1. The Faculty
Established in 1976, FME faculty members total 77: 5 Ph.D.s, 9 Ph.D. candidates, 25 Masters, 14 premaster students, 22 B.Eng. and 2 B.S. holders. FME consists of 6 departments: Machine Building Technology, Skill Practice, Industrial Technology, Automation Technology, Mechatronics, and Woodwork.

2. Training
FME delivers 4 training programs – Machine Building Technology, Industrial Technology, Mechatronics, and Automation Technology, at Master’s, Bachelor’s, and Associate levels – to about 4,500 full-time students.

Scientific Research
FME research projects are mostly focused on applied research and product development, technical education, and automation.
FME students have joined the National Robot Contest for three consecutive years and won three third prizes. The “fish robot” was also a typical successful students’ research project.
Our students have also participated in many other students’ contests and have won high awards, namely:
– MITUYOTO Co. Contest in Applying Measuring Instruments: team’s first prize and individual’s  third prize
– VIFOTEC Creativity Contest: second prize
– HCMC Hi-tech Zone Sci-tech Creativity Contest (2005): second prize
– EUREKA Contest: second prize
– Phillip Semiconductor Co. Contest (2008): third prize and consolation prize
FME has been awarded a Labor Decoration - Third Class (2007) by the SRV President.

3. International Cooperation
FME has established bilateral cooperations with Aalen University of Technology, TU-Dresden, GTZ, InWEnt, DSE (FRG), Korean universities, Taiwanese universities, Czech universities, and others. FME has also forged close international relationships with Intel (USA), Festo, Siemens, and Mercedes (FRG). Domestically, we have strong ties with Vietnam Mechanics Association, Vietnam Automation Association, Vietnam Mechatronics Association and others.

4. Development guidelines
– Training: perfect the training curriculum with graduate attributes adjustable to social needs
– Personnel: upgrade staff qualifications
– Scientific research: undertake research projects at different levels and transfer technology to the industry
- International relations: build and run the High Technology Center (ODA project – Austria-funded); expand cooperations domestically and internationally
